Highline Ballroom [8 pm] ~$25A beautiful, refreshing show. The band from the desert played some excellently textured fuzz guitar melodies, rhythmic Arabic and French vocals, African infused drumming and a few dance moves! This was my first Tinariwen show and my first Highline Ballroom show. The band was excellent. The crowd was pleased as we all tapped, bounced or danced along to the sounds of these Tuaregs. This long awaited change of pace was very appreciated as I lost myself to the layers and rhythms. I was not very impressed with Highline Ballroom on the other hand. There is something missing in these new venues popping up around the city.
